RUNNING FOR BEGINNERS WORKOUT PROGRAM: 30 DAY BREAKAWAY

Have you ever wanted to run a 5K? For the first time ever, I'm bringing you a fitness program that’s designed to be taken outside! 30 Day Breakaway is a running and resistance-training program designed for rapid results that will allow you to build your running endurance to complete a 5K in 30 days!


I used to run for fitness before I had my kids. There are times I have been really missing it and I'm SO HAPPY to be able to incorporate some quick runs into my plan again soon - momma's back! Except this time I'll be learning how to run all over again and build up my endurance right along with you!

What Is 30 Day Breakaway?

If you've always wanted to become a runner but haven't had the proper guidance or support, this is for you! 30 Day Breakaway is a combination of quick & effective resistance workouts followed by interval running. The running can be done indoors or outdoors - and the program is literally for everyone no matter what fitness point you're starting from. It's actually geared toward beginners, using progressive intervals that are designed to push us for short bursts at a level that is right for us - whether that's a brisk walk, slow jog or steady run.


This combination of running & resistance training will help us shed fat as we build strength, endurance, speed, and total-body power. Even if it's raining or snowing outside, that's totally fine. We can use an indoor treadmill in our house or at the gym! Or we could substitute any run with the Rainy Day Cardio workout that is under 20 minutes.

Who Is 30 Day Breakaway For?

This is for the person who needs guidance in how to build a running foundation, for someone who wants to run their first 5K, or for the experienced runner who wants to improve their speed, endurance or strength. It's also a great choice for the runner who NEVER gets any type of strength training into their routine. Adding resistance training to a running program helps to burn more fat, too. And it’s a great option if you want to get outside for a change or if you're sick of your at home workouts.

What Kind of Workouts are Included in 30 Day Breakaway?

  • The workouts combine strength training and running 5 days a week. Each workout is 20-30 minutes long, and you’ll start by lifting weights.

  • You’ll start with walking or running 3x a week and build up to five.

  • The weightlifting sessions will either target certain areas or work your entire body.

  • Legs

  • Arms

  • Core

  • Total Body

  • Meta-Burn (this is a total body scorcher!)

  • You’ll do different running (or walking) workouts throughout the program to help you progress quickly. There is a video and audio version of the run you can watch or listen to, and you’ll focus on the time versus distance.


THREE WORKOUT CALENDARS

The Standard Calendar has you strength training 5x a week for 20-30 minutes and adding in a run 20-30 minutes.

The Advanced Runners Calendar is for current runners wanting to improve their commitment to running and strength training all 30 days.

The Time Crunch Calendar is for busy people wanting to either run or lift each day and be done in 30 minutes.

What Equipment Do I Need for 30 Day Breakaway Workouts?

  • A set of light, medium, and heavy dumbbells

  • Beachbody Resistance Loops

  • A foam roller

You’ll also need a good pair of running shoes to get your runs started on the right foot.
